We are working towards the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA). We recognise that Article 12 (respect for the views of the child) and Article 13 (freedom of expression) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) are fundamental to ensuring that children’s rights are respected.
We have an active Pupil Council which meets fortnightly to discuss school improvements from the children’s perspective. Children have the opportunity to develop and lead their own lunchtime clubs. Primary 7 children act as peace keepers in the playground.
Through our Visible Learning programme, children are gaining in confidence in talking about their learning. All children have opportunities to decide what they want to learn, how to go about it and how to share their learning
